Why do the bank account and reconciled balances not match?

The reconciled balance should match the balance on the most recent bank statement. This will be different from the balance in the transaction register. The bank statement balance only reflects the transactions that have cleared the bank. The register (or checkbook) balance in NTS takes into account all transactions, including the transaction that have not cleared the bank.
